Chemical Peels

Chemical Peel Overview

Chemical peels involve the application of a chemical solution to the skin, causing it to exfoliate and eventually peel. This process leads to the regeneration of new skin, which is typically smoother, less wrinkled, and more even in tone. Chemical peels are typically categorized by depth. These include superficial peels, medium-depth peels, and deep peels. Here at Splendid Skin, we utilize superficial peels and medium-depth peels. Superficial peels contain mild acids, such as alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs), and are used for mild skin imperfections, fine lines, and uneven skin tones. Medium-depth peels such as Trichloroacetic acid (TCA), are us to treat more significant age spots, wrinkles, and mild to moderate skin discolorations.

What chemical peels does Splendid Skin offer?

Splendid Skin currently offers The Perfect™ Derma Peel, medical grade RevePeel® Advanced, and the Enlighten Plus™ depigmentation system. (Ask your provider how these treatments can be customized).

Will a chemical peel help my melasma?

Chemical peels can be used as part of a treatment plan for improving melasma. While chemical peels can improve the appearance of melasma, they may not provide a complete removal. Maintenance treatments and ongoing sun protection are usually necessary.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments needed will vary depending on the type and strength of the peel used and skin condition. Superficial peels typically provide the best results when used in a series. Medium-depth and deep peels may result in more significant improvements but are often spaced further apart due to the intensity of the treatment.

Where can I use a chemical peel?

Chemical peels can be used on various parts of the body. The most commonly treated areas are the face, neck, chest, and hands.

How long is the downtime, how long will I peel?

Superficial peels typically have minimal peeling and minimal downtime. If you are getting a superficial peel expect a few days for the skin to slough or peel. Medium-depth peels can have skin peeling lasting around 5-7 days. Expect to be addressing skin transformation for at least 7 days. It is important to note that the avoidance of sun exposure may be prolonged depending on the area treated and the peel strength.

How much does a chemical peel cost?

Peel prices start at $249 and go up to $499. It is important to note that the RevePeel® Advanced and the Enlighten Plus™ Depigmentation system require pretreatment of the skin for optimal results that will be brilliant! Pretreatment products are an additional cost.

*Speak to your provider about combination therapies. Many times chemical peels can be combined with other treatments such as skincare products, laser therapy, microneedling treatments, and exfoliating facials to enhance results and address the complex aspects of skin health!
